Level 3 Diploma in International Foundation Studies

Our International Foundation qualification equips international students with the academic knowledge, English language skills and cultural understanding required for global undergraduate success.

Delivered and assessed at RFQ Level 3, it’s tailored to the needs of non-native English speakers who are unfamiliar with the university education system.

To gain entry to a US university, International Foundation students may be able to transfer module credits earned during their pathway program.

Successful International Foundation students will demonstrate:

  • strong academic English skills, including clear writing, accurate referencing and effective verbal communication
  • the ability to work independently and collaboratively in an academic environment
  • application of subject-specific knowledge, practical skills and theoretical understanding to relevant tasks
  • appropriate use of numerical or statistical methods to interpret, evaluate and analyze information
  • appreciation of and ability to adapt to different academic cultures
  • an understanding of basic laboratory practices, where relevant.

After completing their qualification and achieving the required grades, students can progress to their undergraduate degree at a choice of universities worldwide.

Curriculum

Core modules (compulsory for all students)

  • English for Academic Purposes (vup to IELTS 6.5)
  • Research Project with Skills Enhancement (IELTS 6.5+)

Specialist modules  (based on intended degree)

  • Biology
  • Business and Accounting
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Economics
  • Law and International Relations
  • Mathematics
  • Mathematics and Data Handling
  • Physics

Each module is worth 30 credits. Students must earn at least 120 credits across all modules. 

Structure

The typical duration is one academic year (8–9 months), delivered over 3 terms or 2 semesters. Intensive or extended options may also be offered.

Delivery method

INTO Qualifications are usually delivered via in-person programs with face-to-face teaching. However, online delivery may be considered where appropriate.

Assessment

All assessments are conducted in person. Our methods are designed to be accessible for students from a range of academic backgrounds, while maintaining the highest academic quality.
